Overview

AI avatar is an on-screen digital presenter that delivers your script in an Elai video. Elai avatars can speak in 75+ languages, and avatars that use a cloned voice can speak in 32+ languages.

Every Elai template comes with a talking avatar already built in as its presenter. The full avatar library includes 600+ avatars, so you can find one that fits the look and tone of your video. Some of these avatars are marked as premium, and you will need an Enterprise plan to render a video using one of them.

Adding an Avatar to Your Slide

1. Click Avatar in the sidebar on the right, or select an avatar already on your slide and click Replace, to open the avatar grid.

2. Browse the avatar library. Click the heart icon on an avatar to select it as a favorite. If you have any favorite avatars, they appear first.
   
   Use the search bar or the filter options to narrow the list.
   Click Clear to reset your filters and selection. 
   

Note: Some avatars in the grid also include their own background, which is applied automatically when you select that avatar.

3. Click the preview icon on any avatar to see it speaking before you choose it.

4. Select the avatar and apply it:
   a. Apply it to all slides in your project. 

   b. Use it to replace some of the avatars already in your project.
   
   c. Ignore it and keep it on the current slide only.

5. If you would rather use a voiceover with no on-screen presenter, click the bin icon instead.

Note: Premium avatars in the library require an Enterprise plan to render videos with them.

Positioning and Customizing Your Avatars

1. Drag the avatar anywhere on the slide to change its position, or use the on-screen handles to resize it.

2. Click Circle to frame the avatar in a circle, then use the color picker to change the circle's color. 

3. If the avatar has more than one outfit available, choose the outfit you want from the options shown.

4. Open the layers panel to change the avatar's order relative to other objects on the slide.

Note: To reuse an avatar's exact position on a different slide, copy it with Ctrl+C and paste it onto the new slide with Ctrl+V.

Choosing an Avatar Type

Elai avatars fall into four general types.

• Scenario Avatars: Show the avatar in a specific setting.

• Dialogue Avatars: Support two-person dialogue scenes between two avatars. Not every avatar supports dialogue; avatars that do are marked with a tag in the avatar grid. For a full walkthrough of building a dialogue scene, see Learn About Dialogue Avatars.

Browsing the Avatar Library From Home Page

1. From the Elai home page, click Avatar Library in the sidebar on the left. 

2. Browse your custom avatars alongside the full Elai avatar library, and click any avatar to preview it speaking.

3. Click on the + icon to start a new video with that avatar already applied.

Rendering Your Video

1. Click Render in the top right corner of the page.

2. Wait for Elai to process your video. Render time will vary depending on the length of your video.

Note: You will not see or hear your avatar speaking in the slide preview or the video preview. The avatar speaks only in the final video, after you render it.
