Learn About Elai Video Templates

Overview

Every video starts with the same set of decisions: how the slides are laid out, where the avatar sits, what the text looks like, and how the whole thing flows. An Elai template answers all of those questions before you write a single word. Each one is a complete, ready-made video with slides, avatars, on-screen text, and design already in place, so the only thing left for you to do is swap in your own script.

You can choose from over 100 pre-designed templates built for training, onboarding, sales, compliance, and more, or build your own template once in your brand colors and reuse it across every project your team produces. Both options are available on every plan, including the trial.

Templates are the fastest route from idea to finished video in Elai, and they are the easiest way to keep a large library of videos looking like it came from the same company.

Why Templates Speed Up Video Creation

Building a video from a blank canvas means making dozens of small design choices, and repeating those choices every time someone on your team starts a new project. Templates remove that work. The structure, pacing, and styling are already decided, so you can focus entirely on the message.

This matters most when you are producing at volume. A course with twelve modules, a compliance series, or a monthly product update all benefit from looking consistent, and a template guarantees that consistency without anyone needing to remember the rules. It also lowers the barrier for colleagues who are not designers. They open a template, replace the text, and produce something that looks like the rest of your library.

Templates are equally useful as a starting point rather than a finished product. Pick the one closest to what you need, then adjust scenes, avatars, and voices from there.

Finding the Right Template

The full template library appears whenever you start a new video.

1. Click Create video.

   

2. In the Create new video window, the full library of Elai’s video templates will appear.

   

Two tabs organize the library. All templates shows Elai's pre-built templates alongside any templates your workspace has created. My templates shows only the custom templates you have published.

Important! A custom template only appears under My templates after you click Publish. Until then, it stays a draft and your teammates cannot use it.

You have two ways to narrow the grid down:

• Search by tags: Click the search field to browse the full tag list, or type to filter it. Tags include Learning and Development, Higher Education, Sales, Marketing, Insurance, Enterprise, Corporate communications, Health/Medical, Explainer videos, Product demo, and more.

  

• Dimension: Click the filter icon to the right of the search field and choose Horizontal, Vertical, or Square depending on where the video will be published.
  

Note: When you sign up for Elai, the system asks about your use case. For example, if you selected Learning and Development, the All templates grid may already be filtered to that tag. Click the cross beside the tag to clear it and see everything.

Before you commit to a template, click its thumbnail to preview it. The preview plays the full video, lists the tags applied to it, and shows a thumbnail of every slide so you can judge the structure at a glance. When you have found the right one, click Create video to open it in the editor.

Interactive Templates

Some Elai templates go beyond linear video. Templates tagged Interactive videos come with elements already built in, including clickable buttons, quizzes, and branching scenarios that let viewers choose their own path through the content. These are a strong fit for scenario-based training, knowledge checks, and onboarding paths where you want the viewer to make decisions rather than just watch.

Creating Your Own Branded Templates

If none of the pre-built templates match how your organization presents itself, you can build your own. Custom templates carry your colors, fonts, and layout choices, and once published, they sit alongside Elai's library for anyone in your workspace to use. This is the single most effective way to keep brand consistency across a growing video library, and it is available even on the trial.

FAQ

Are templates included in my plan?
Yes. Both Elai's pre-built templates and custom templates you create yourself are available on every plan, including the trial.

Why am I only seeing one category of templates?
The library may be pre-filtered based on the use case you selected when you signed up. Click the cross beside the tag in the search field to clear the filter.

What is the difference between All templates and My templates?
All templates shows Elai's pre-built library together with templates created in your workspace. My templates shows only the custom templates you have published.

I created a template but cannot find it. Where is it?
Check that you clicked Publish. Unpublished templates do not appear in the template grid.

Can I change a template after I choose it?
Yes. A template is a starting point. Once it opens in the editor, you can edit scenes, scripts, avatars, voices, and design.
