From Presentation

The Elai PowerPoint converter serves as the entry point for video creation. After uploading your presentation, you can make further edits, such as selecting the speech voice and avatar, adding animations, editing slide elements, or applying other modifications.

The converter offers two modes: static and dynamic.

  • Dynamic mode converts each slide object into a dynamic element in your video, providing more flexibility for editing the slides. Some elements might be altered, so you may need to make small adjustments after uploading the presentation.

  • Static mode converts each slide from your presentation into a single image. This mode preserves the layout exactly as it appears in your PowerPoint slide, provided the initial slide ratio is 16:9. You can enable Static mode by clicking the "Convert to static images" button.

Depending on the complexity of your presentation, the variety of media elements, and the need for animations, you should choose the mode that best suits your workflow. It's also worth mentioning that both modes support speaker notes conversion.

Workflows

  1. Dynamic mode.

Once your presentation is converted, the system will create a new video and direct you to AI Storyboard, where you can edit the slide layout, text elements, and speech. If needed, you can revert an individual slide from dynamic mode to static mode (or vice versa) by clicking on  Edit slide → Revert to static image (or Convert slide back to dynamic).

Once you've finished working in StoryBoard mode, you can convert your story to slides. You can always return to the AI StoryBoard and switch the slides between dynamic and static modes. The static mode is indicated by an image icon next to the slide:

  1. Static mode.

Once your presentation is converted, the system will generate a new video and take you to the video editor. If the presentation was initially converted in static mode, you won’t be able to revert the slides to dynamic mode.

Note: If your file is too large to be converted quickly, the "Create Video" window will close, but the converter will continue processing in the background. To access the new video draft, go to the Videos menu and look for the file with the same name as your uploaded presentation.

Limitations

The converter has several limitations to keep in mind while working on your video:

  1. Transitions/animations are not supported.

  2. Videos and GIFS are not supported.

  3. The slide limit is application-level and is equal to 100.

  4. If your font is not supported in Elai, the default Georgia font will be used.

  5. Files with read-only fonts cannot be converted.

  6. The file size cannot exceed 20MB in the free trial, and 100MB for paid users

  7. The last letter/word in the textbox might be moved to the next row.

  8. The maximum number of objects allowed on a single slide is 120.

Here are a few tips to avoid unwanted effects:

  • Minimize the size of the media in your presentations.

  • Use a 16:9 aspect ratio for your slides.

  • Ensure the media resolution does not exceed 4K (3840 × 2160).

  • If you’re using custom fonts, upload them to Elai before converting the PPTX.
