Create a video with StoryBoard
You can create a video with the Storyboard from the main screen by pressing 'AI Storyboard.'
The StoryBoard functionality allows you to create a story in 4 different ways:
From topic
In this mode, you can provide a simple prompt to the AI, which will generate a basic outline for a new story:
You can regenerate the outline or make edits in the textbox. Once you're done, click 'Create slides' to have the AI generate the slides.
From URL
Paste any URL or text from any site, and the content will be parsed into slides.
Limitations:
Not all URLs can be parsed. An error may occur if the link leads to a page with parsing restrictions or anti-bot protection.
From text
Creates a story from any text (or html) pasted to a textbox.
The slide structure and formatting will largely depend on the structure and formatting of the original text. Once you paste your script into the AI Storyboard, our HTML parser will process the input—text content along with its structure—and format the slides accordingly.
Here’s how the HTML parser works:
Headers:
Recognized only if the font size difference is greater than 2.
Should be a single block with a consistent font size.
Cannot exceed 200 characters.
Speech:
Speech is parsed from plain text blocks.
If the speech duration (from the plain text block) exceeds predefined limits (55 seconds and 285 seconds), it will be split into a new slide at the end of a block or sentence.
From scratch
Creates a blank story that you can adjust and add content to.
Story editing
Text AI improvements include speech adjustments (e.g., make shorter, more professional, etc.), adding missing content to slides, or applying a custom prompt.
You can change the video template by clicking ‘Change template’ in the header.
After changing the template, you can apply any of the template's slide layouts to slides in your story.
Once all editing is complete, you can convert the story into a video by clicking the ‘Convert to slides’ button.
AI Storyboard limitations:
From URL:
An error occurs when the URL leads to pages with blocked parsing or anti-bot protection.
From text:
You cannot edit the text in the modal window. You can edit your text in Google Docs or another text editor before copying it to the modal window, or in the AI Storyboard after converting the text. The copied text in the modal window will appear as code:
List formats cannot be parsed (bulleted list, numbered list, checklist). We recommend switching the lists to “Normal text” style and adding numbers or “-” symbols manually in your document so they can be parsed to the StoryBoard.
If the input text has no distinct headings, all the content will be placed on a single slide. You’ll need to add headings in a text editor outside Elai and create the video again, or manually divide the content across slides in the Storyboard.
More on splitting content into slides:
For an optimal workflow, we recommend using distinct headings in your text to help the system organize content across slides more effectively. If headings are missing, all content will be placed on the first slide. You can still manually add slides and distribute the content as needed.
Demonstrating on Google Docs:
- different headings applied to the text (Heading 3 for headers and Normal text for the script):
- the system separates the text into slides based on differences in text formatting:
