Video tutorial: here.

Interactivity is an instrument in our video editor that allows you to create more engaging videos by giving the viewer the possibility to interact with the material.

You can find the Interactivity menu on the right bar in the video editor. Click on the Interactivity button to start working with it:

In the Interactivity menu, you can manage Slide settings and Interactive elements.

Slide settings can be used to change the order of the slides.

Use Next slide setting in your project to create branching scenarios. This is often used together with Interactive elements. To get more detailed information about the Next slide tool and how it is different from the Correct/Incorrect Interactions from Questions tool please check this article: Interactivity Branching Scenarios.

Next slide setting will appear only if you have 2 or more slides in your project.

Slide chapter setting is created for easy navigation in the final video for the user and the viewers.

Once the video is rendered, the viewer will be able to see the name of the Chapter by hovering on the video timeline. Also, the viewer can click on the Chapters icon to browse the list of chapters.

You can create a chapter for every slide if needed. Creating chapters in your project is optional.

Interactive elements allow you to add multiple-choice questions (Questions), links to external resources, or links to other slides in your video (Buttons)  to your video with the possibility for the user/viewer to answer them after the video is rendered. The menu offers such instruments as Questions and Buttons.

Questions are quizzes with answer options that viewers can choose and submit inside the video. The quiz will appear at the end of the slide. You can customize which slide will be shown next based on whether the user's answer was correct or incorrect.

To add a Question to the slide follow these steps:

- select the question design you prefer

- type the question you want to ask in the Question field

- type the answer variants in the Answers fields. You can have 2-6 answer options per question.

- select the correct answer or answers (multiple answers can be set correct). The correct answer has to be marked with a green check:

- set the slide navigation for correct and incorrect answers.

For example, the settings on the screenshot below send the viewer to slide 3 if they provide the correct answer; or send the viewer to the start of the video if they provide the incorrect answer. A video viewer’s answers will be marked as correct only if the selected options correspond to the checkboxes you have chosen. Otherwise, the answer will be considered incorrect.

- set Feedback for correct and incorrect answers. Feedback will appear instantly once the viewer submits an answer. A Feedback setting is optional.

The Feedback will create a pop-up with a green check if the correct answer was provided. Alternatively, if the answer is incorrect the pop-up will have a red X.

Buttons:

Clicking on a Button will redirect viewers to another slide in the video or open a link to the external resource in a new tab.

At the end of the slide, the video pauses until the viewer interacts with the button. You can customize the button's name and color by ungrouping the button element, making adjustments, and regrouping it. Once customized, please ensure to add interactivity to the button.

Any media or text can be turned into an interactive button. Follow these steps to complete the action:

  • Click on your media or text.

  • Enable Interactivity in the Elements menu.

  • Select a needed option: Go to the slide (transfers the viewer to a specified slide in your video) or Open a link (for external resources).

  • Depending on the previous action, select the slide that should open upon clicking on the interactive element or paste a link to the resource.

QuestionsButtons & clickable interactive elements will be highlighted on the video progress bar by lightning symbols:

Once you have completed all the edits and are ready to render the video you will notice a new option added along with the interactivity feature: Disable slide navigation. If the setting is active - the viewer will be able to navigate the video only by using the interactive elements (Questions, Buttons & clickable elements), however, they will not be able to jump to another chapter or fast-forward the video.

Once you have completed the work on content you can preview the video before rendering it. Please be informed that the system will ask you to emulate clicks to proceed to the next slides. The interactive elements will be clickable only after render.

Also you will notice that the Music (if soundrack enabled) will not pause at teh end of the slide in the Preview mode. Be informed that in the rendered video the music pauses along with the video.

You may consider disabling the slide navigation for cases when you do not want your viewers to skip some parts of the videos, and encourage them to travel through the video only by using the interactive elements.

To become more familiar with the Interactivity feature feel free to check on this example video created by our team: link!

You may also use Elai Interactivity templates to speed up your video creation process. Find more information about the templates in this article.

Interactivity limitations:

  1. Autotranslation currently does not work with interactive elements.

  2. Interactive elements can be supported only in Elai player. This means that the buttons and links will not work if you download the video and play it on your computer. The video with interactive elements will be fully operational if you:

  • Play it in our video editor.

  • Make the video public and share the link with your viewers.

  • Embed a video on your website.
