Interactivity Branching Scenarios.

The interactivity feature allows your viewers to take different paths throughout the video. This is especially useful for videos with interactive quizzes. In this article, we describe the possible branching scenarios and tell you about the most effective usage of Interactivity instruments.

Branching can be achieved by:

  1. Creating the Interactive elements on the slide.

The viewer will be transferred to the set slide when they submit the correct or incorrect answer.

  1. Using the Next slide instrument in the Interactivity Slide settings.

The viewer will be transferred to the set slide without having any interactions with the video.

These two options of branching are different, often you might combine them to keep your video logically organized.

Examples:

  1. Simple loop.

You can use Questions interactions to loop the viewer in the video until they choose the correct actions. The algorithm is as follows:

  • If the viewer selects the correct answer after slide 3 they proceed to the next slide 4.

  • If the viewer selects the incorrect answer after slide 3 they proceed to the previous slide 2 to review the material again.

  1. Simple Branch.

The viewer will get alternate results depending on their answer.

  • If the viewer selects the correct answer they are redirected to slide 4 - “positive feedback”

  • If the viewer selects an incorrect answer they are redirected to slide 5 - “negative feedback”

  1. Advanced Branch.

This branch option requires at least one indirect slide transfer (via Next slide instead of Interactive elements)

  • If the viewer selects the correct answer they are redirected to slide 4 - “positive feedback” - slide 5 “Reward”. After slide 5 the editor has to use Slide Settings to set Next Slide 8 for the viewer to jump to “Conclusion” and skip the incorrect branch.

  • If the viewer selects an incorrect answer they are redirected to slide 6 - “negative feedback” - slide 7 “Cheer up” - slide 8 “Conclusion”.

You can ch

  1. Complex Branch.

You will get a complex branch if you combine numerous loops, skips, and branches.

Conclusion:

Effective creation of branches requires using both instruments: Next slide and Interactions.

The interactions tool will help you to forward your viewer to the slide depending on the answer they provided.

Next slide tool should be used to skip blocks of slides that are designed for the alternate branch.
